Foreign Language Department

           

A five-year program is offered in French and Spanish at Deep Creek High School. Students may begin either of these languages in eighth grade at Deep Creek Middle School. A four year German program is also available.

Since the goal of teaching a foreign language is to provide the student with a usable tool of communication, the foreign language program concentrates on the four linguistic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The study of the culture is an integral part for the program at all levels.

The French, Spanish and German clubs of Deep Creek High School enable interested students to participate in language activities outside of the classroom. Club members visit restaurants, movies, and special events that complement and/or broaden their classroom language experiences.
