Suggested Summer Reading 2011

Dear Parents and Students:

We hope each of you will incorporate reading into your summer plans. A suggested summer reading list is on our website. By providing students with such a wide variety of choices, we hope they will find the books enjoyable, meaningful, and thought provoking. Reading during the summer will have many benefits for our students. It will not only enlighten them, but it will also reinforce many reading skills they learn during the school year. Students are encouraged to read as many books as they wish.

Our book list includes the Lexiles numbers (approximate reading levels) of the books, when it is available. A Lexile helps readers to select books that are not too easy and not too difficult, paving the way for many successful individualized reading experiences.

We hope each of you will have a wonderful, safe summer.
