Dr. Lee Fowler - Principal  

Dr. Fowler began teaching in 1979. He has taught history and coached football, wrestling and track at Deep Creek, Indian River and Naples American High Schools. He became an administrator in 1993. Dr. Fowler came to Jolliff MS in 2001 when it opened and became the Principal in 2004. He loves to read, church, and teaching on all levels.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mrs. Linda Pitzen-Jones - Assistant Principal

 (Grade 6)

 

Mrs. Jones was so inspired by teachers at Greenbrier Primary while serving as secretary, that she decided to go to college to be a teacher.  At Virginia Wesleyan Mrs. Jones received her Bachelor of Arts in English.  Mrs. Jones continued her education at Old Dominion where she received a Master of Science in Reading Education and, later, her Ed.S in School Administration and Supervision.  She has taught second grade at B.M. Williams, third grade at Crestwood Intermediate, sixth, seventh and eighth grades at Greenbrier Middle.  Mrs. Jones has served as an Administrator at Southwestern Elementary, Hugo A. Owens Middle, and now at Jolliff Middle.  She enjoys reading, photography, drawing and painting.
 

 

 

 

Ms. Clarysa Kelly - Assistant Principal

 ( Grade 7)

 

Ms. Kelly was born and raised in Piscataway, New Jersey.  She graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and minor in Special Education in 1996.  She was selected to participate in the Career Commitment program and started her teaching career at Oscar Smith Middle and Treakle Elementary Schools.  Ms. Kelly then transferred to Hugo A. Owens Middle School where she taught Special Education for eight years.   She has also earned her Master of Science in Education degree from Old Dominion University in 1999 and her Education Specialist degree in Education Leadership and Policy Studies in 2005.  She started her administrative career at Western Branch High School and recently transferred to Jolliff Middle School.  Ms. Kelly enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and spoiling her niece and nephew in Atlanta.

 

 

 

Mr. Robert Harrell - Assistant Principal

 ( Grade 8)

 

Mr. Robert Harrell is a lifetime native of Chesapeake.  Growing up in the Chesapeake public schools he was a 1982 graduate of Great Bridge High School.  Mr. Harrell received his Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education in 1987 from Old Dominion University, with concentrations in Biology and Chemistry.  He started his career in Chesapeake in 1987 at Truitt Junior High School teaching 8th grade Physical Science.  The next year he transferred to Indian River Middle School where he taught 7th and 8th grade sciences.  Mr. Harrell remained at Indian River Middle for 8 years and also coached boys varsity tennis at Indian River High School.  In 1996, Mr. Harrell left Middle School for the chance to teach High School and open a then, brand new Hickory High School.  At Hickory, Mr. Harrell taught Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry and Advanced Placement Chemistry, also coaching the boys varsity tennis team.  In 2004, Mr. Harrell received his Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision from Old Dominion University.  Mr. Harrell enjoys playing tennis and following ODU sports.
