The counseling program at Jolliff Middle School is designed to help students by assisting them in making positive decisions and changing self-defeating behavior(s).  Counselors work closely with teachers and administrators to provide the best learning environment for each child.  Counselors are available to parents for assistance with concerns that affect the student at home or school and provide information on school and community resources to aid students and their families.  In order to impart specific skills and learning opportunities in a proactive and preventive manner, counselors teach classroom guidance lessons, the topics are:  Personal/Social (Bullying/Internet Safety) and Careers. The counselors also plan and coordinate academic scheduling for the next school year for all students on their grade level.

At times personal problems may affect school work and cause students to feel overwhelmed.  Therefore, to help resolve the problem, individual counseling is available when students complete a "Request To See My Counselor Card".  Parents, teachers and administrators may also refer students to see their grade level counselor.  Group counseling is offered to students for conflict resolution. The counselors at JMS value each student.  In order to enhance self-esteem, and promote positive middle school experiences, counselors make an assertive effort to conduct an individual session with each student on their grade level.

The counselors at Jolliff Middle School provide a friendly ear and give support to students that  will help to enable and encourage the PRIDE, RESPECT, and EFFORT needed for our students continual academic and personal growth.
