DEPARTMENT OF STAFF DEVELOPMENT
Entry-Level Leadership Academy

The purpose of the Entry-Level Leadership Academy is to assist aspiring administrators in strengthening and assessing leadership skills.  Through the academy, participants have an opportunity to explore various facets of effective leadership.  The roles and responsibilities of school leaders in the age of accountability are also examined.

The school division launched the first Entry-Level Leadership Academy in February 2005.  Fifteen candidates were selected to participate in this new academy.  The screening process included a review of written applications, written activities, and structured interviews.  Twenty-five educators participated in the 2006 academy, fourteen individuals participated in the 2007 academy, and eighteen individuals participated in the 2008 academy.  The 2009 Entry-Level Leadership Academy was cancelled due to budget reductions for the 2008-2009 school year.  Due to continued budget reductions since the 2008-2009 school year, this academy has not been offered since the spring of 2008.
