DEPARTMENT OF STAFF DEVELOPMENT
The Staff Developer

Course offerings in The Staff Developer represent the commitment of the school division to the professional development of its employees.  These offerings are system-sponsored and free to employees of the school division.  Limited copies are distributed to schools and support facilities three times each year (i.e., fall, spring, summer).

The Staff Developer is divided into five sections.  The first section advertises courses that are part of the add-on endorsement series (e.g., gifted education, LEP).  A variety of courses listed by content and other instructional opportunities are included in the second section.  Courses focusing specifically on differentiated instruction and literacy are in the third section of The Staff Developer.  The fourth section offers courses designed to support special education.  The final section advertises courses designed to assist personnel in integrating technology into instruction.  Licensed personnel may earn licensure points for these courses. 

Online Registration  
Participants may submit their registration requests online by clicking the link above.

Manual Registration  
Participants may submit registration requests by completing the appropriate form in the back of The Staff Developer and returning it to the Department of Staff Development by pony or fax.  Registration forms may be printed from The Staff Developer found on the web or from hard copies of the training booklets.

In support of Chesapeake's staff training program and Virginia's Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel, the Department of Staff Development has a limited number of laptop computers available for loan (two-week checkout).  Equipped with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access), these computers are for instructional purposes only.  If interested, Chesapeake teachers and administrators should call Staff Development at 547-0914 for details.
